Circa Survivor 2026: Rules, History, and How to Play

Every NFL season, thousands of football fans enter survivor pools hoping to outlast the competition. While office pools and online contests are widespread, Circa Survivor has become the ultimate survivor contest thanks to a massive prize guarantee, unique format, and the electric atmosphere that comes with a Vegas-based mega-contest. For serious survivor players, this is where the real action lives.

For the 2026 season, Circa has guaranteed a $20 million prize, making it one of the largest football contests in the world. That's up from the $15 million guarantee last year, for a pot which grew to $18.718 million and was split among 5 winners at the end of the season.

Whether you're entering for the first time or refreshing your memory to play again, here's what you need to know before locking in your entries.

    Circa Survivor Basics

Circa's survivor contest follows the familiar survivor pool format, but with some quirks that crank up the difficulty.

Each contest week, players choose one NFL team to win its game outright. Point spreads don't matter. The team simply has to win.

The main catch is that you can only use each NFL team once throughout the entire contest. Once you've picked a team, it is no longer available for future weeks, forcing participants to balance short-term survival with long-term planning across the entire season.

For 2026, the contest includes up to 20 total selections:

    • NFL Weeks 1 through 18
    • A special Thanksgiving round (Thanksgiving Eve/Day/Black Friday)
    • A special Christmas round

A loss, or even a tie, will eliminate your entry. And those two holiday weeks involve fewer teams, so players need to understand that in planning the season.

    What Makes Circa Unique
    A massive guaranteed prize

The headline attraction is the $20 million guaranteed prize for 2026. If entry fees exceed that amount, the prize pool grows larger. Circa does not take a rake from the prize pool, which means every dollar of the pot goes to the winning players.

    Winner(s) will take all

In Circa Survivor, the last remaining entry or entries will claim the grand prize. If more than one entry survives after all 20 rounds, or if all remaining entries lose in the same week, the pool is split equally among those entries. This structure is why a "close but not first" finisher can walk away with nothing. And this means the final weeks bring excitement levels that rival high-stakes poker tournaments.

    Multiple entries

Participants may purchase up to 10 entries per person, allowing different strategic approaches and providing some insurance against early eliminations. The 2026 rules include a specific rebuy provision: if you lose an opening-week entry on Wednesday Night Football or the Thursday game, you can rebuy up to 10 additional entries before the registration deadline. Many players will run several entries with different team assignments to maximize their coverage across various weekly scenarios.

    Nevada registration and proxy services

Contest registration must be completed in person in Nevada at Circa Resort & Casino, the D Las Vegas, Silverton Casino Lodge, or Tuscany Suites & Casino in Southern Nevada, or Legends Bay Casino in Northern Nevada. Players who live elsewhere can participate by using an approved Nevada-based proxy service to submit weekly picks on their behalf. The proxy must be present at the time of registration. Proxy services have become a critical part of the contest ecosystem and have allowed Circa Survivor to become a national contest despite Nevada's registration requirements.

Ready to get in on it?

Entering Circa Survivor requires a little planning.

The contest has a $1000 entry fee per entry, and registration must be completed in person before the registration deadline of 2 p.m. PST on Saturday, September 12. All entrants receive the official Circa Survivor hat while supplies last.
Weekly selections can be submitted in Nevada through the Circa Sports app or at a sportsbook, or through a registered proxy if you're playing from outside the state. Picks are due at 4 p.m. PST every Saturday (or before kickoff of your selected game, whichever comes first). The Thanksgiving Leg has a Wednesday deadline, and the Christmas Leg has a Thursday deadline.

Success in Circa Survivor isn't just about picking favorites. Because every team can only be used once, contestants spend months studying NFL schedules, identifying future value, and planning around difficult weeks like Thanksgiving and Christmas (and we bring you the essential tools here on Survivor Atlas).
